Digital transformation has also become an inescapable keyword for the banking sector. Not only are banks' once seemingly unshakable positions being shaken by financial and economic crises, but they are also being challenged by fintechs that are able to anticipate and meet new customer needs and by international tech giants from Apple to Alibaba. In such a situation, a wrong or long-delayed decision could be fatal in the long run.

The roundtable discussion focused on managing the partner ecosystem. The modern bank or insurance and IT system is no longer a closed entity: it is increasingly linked to the outside world by more and more different strands. Fewer and fewer of the systems that provide vital services are under their own direct control - for the rest, they are forced to rely on IT service providers or even fintechs. What business, legal and security considerations need to be taken into account when managing this complex ecosystem? Where does the supplier's responsibility end and the bank's begin? How can fintech knowledge be channelled most effectively into the organisation?
